DIY Pusheen Pencil Case | Back to School

Another Pusheen DIY!!!!! This time is DIY Pusheen pencil case!

I still have so many fabric left from making this DIY Pusheen plushie. Don’t know what to do with that.. I have so many fabric lying around in my room. And the longer I keep them, the longer I got sick of them. Because there’s just so much stuff in my room! I need to breath! Haha *exagerating.

But seriously, I need to make something with my leftover fabrics. To finish all of my fabrics that I have, and turn them into something useful. Or, I need to make some kind of organization idea to store those fabrics, so that I don’t have to see them lying around all the time in my room! Ahahaha.

And I plan to sell the stuff that I made. Yep, I’m planning to open a handmade store now. That is one of my dream. Before I get old, I want to experience my dream! And before I buy “new fabric” to make something for my store, I want to use fabrics that I already have first.

Can’t wait!

So let’s start making this DIY Pusheen pencil case! My inspiration is this one from Amazon, it’s so cuuute!

DIY Pusheen Pencil Case Tutorial

Main Body

  1. I used A4 paper for the measurement. It’s a bit too long for me, so I cut 3″ off from it.
  2. Picture number 2 show how the A4 paper now. This will be the pattern for Pusheen body.
  3. Trace it on the gray fabric for the body, also trace it on lining fabric (I used cotton). And cut them.
  4. Now make Pusheen stripe. First I made the pattern from paper. My stripe is 1″ x 1.5″. Then trace it on dark gray felt. Cut 4 of these.
  5. Place it on top of the gray body fabric, at the right side. Place it like the picture. And sew them. I used whip stitch because it’s easy and fast to do. Saving my time haha.
  6. Then Put the zipper on top of the fabric (right side meet right side). Place the lining on top sandwiching the zipper. The wrong side of lining facing us. Then sew the edge to attach them together.
  7. Do the same for the other side.

Legs

  1. With stripe pattern, cut 8 pieces of gray fabric for her legs.
  2. Then pair them one by one until 4 pairs, and sew them. Turn them right side out.
  3. Stuff them.
  4. Now take anything circle and trace it on the gray fabric and cut. Make sure the circle is at least the same size (or bigger) than the body (that we’ve made on the previous tutorial) circumference. Cut 2 pieces.
  5. Then place two legs on top of the body at the edge (see picture), and sew them. Do this for the other side.
  6. Then to close this opening, put the circle (right side to right side), and sew it. Do the same for the other side.
  7. After you turn it right side out, your pusheen pencil case is almost done!

Now let’s make the head!

Head

  1. I free hand draw the head and face on a paper and cut it. Then I use this as a pattern and cut 2 pieces of gray fabric with it.
  2. Place the 2 pieces of head together right side facing right side. Then sew, leaving a gap for opening.
  3. Don’t forget to snip every corner and curve (Don’t snip the stitch), to prevent bulkiness when turning.
  4. Stuff the head
  5. Close the opening with ladder stitch.
  6. I cut the face features from black felt. I free hand them again. Then I place it on the head and glue it. UHU is strong enough to stick felt.
  7. Then attach the head to the body by sewing it. Use ladder stitch so the stitch is hidden!

And done! Yeaaay! I’m so happy! Now my Pusheen plush has a little sister!

Even though the outcome doesn’t look the same as my inspiration but nah.. it’s still looks cute anyway~
